The reason why Paul Pogba canceled his move to Manchester City
Manchester United (MU) midfielder Paul Pogba has reportedly turned down the opportunity to move to rival club, Manchester City. The 29-year-old also informed the club of his desire to leave England.
As is known, Pogba will spend his contract period with the Red Devils in June 2022. The France international is now reportedly getting closer to a move to Serie A.
However, the Mirror has again brought up the issue of Pogba and Manchester City transfers. The reason is, there is interesting information behind Pogba's decision to refuse to join Pep Guardiola's squad.
Reports claim the player actually agreed personal terms with Manchester City. However, Pogba chose to withdraw from the plan because he was worried about the reaction from the Manchester United fanbase.
The Citizens are in need of a new midfielder. Mainstay player Fernandinho will leave the Etihad in the summer. Paul Pogba was also identified as the ideal figure to replace the player at Manchester City.
Unfortunately, the interest of The Citizens is one-sided. Pogba has confirmed that he has rejected an offer to move to the Premier League giants. The former Juventus player also seems more interested in playing elsewhere next season.

Paul Pogba's fear is not without reason. The transfer to Manchester City has the potential to cause most fans to be angry and disagree. Moreover, Pogba has undergone two periods with the Red Devils, namely before and after moving to Juventus.
Reporting from the Mirror, Carlos Tevez is one proof of Pogba's concern for the MU fanbase. The Argentine player also had recorded a move from Manchester United to his rivals, The Citizens in 2009. This condition inevitably resulted in great anger at the supporters of the Red Devils.
Even though the incident occurred more than a decade ago, it is possible that Paul Pogba will reap a similar reaction if he decides to move to Premier League giants Manchester City. This is what made him withdraw from the initial agreement with Pep Guardiola's club.
Paul Pogba still has the opportunity to leave for another big club. A number of top teams, from Real Madrid, Barcelona, to Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) have expressed their interest in the 29-year-old midfielder.
Even so, Juventus is predicted to be in a leading position to get Pogba's signature. The reason is, the Old Lady is ready to offer a big salary for the player, which reaches 8 million pounds per year.
That figure will make Pogba earn approximately 160,000 pounds, or around Rp. 2.9 billion per week. Not only that, Juventus are also willing to give a fantastic value bonus package and a large signing fee for Pogba.
Another offer that is no less tempting is that the Bianconeri will make Pogba a big star as well as a major player in Turin. No wonder it is believed that Juventus will become Pogba's port after leaving Old Trafford at the end of the season.
Agreement with MU
In line with this, Juventus CEO Maurizio Arrivabene also hinted his club had reached a new chapter in the process of signing Paul Pogba. Reporting from Liputan6.com, Arrivabene claims Juventus has a gentleman's agreement aka an unwritten agreement with MU.
"He is a Manchester United player. We respect them, and we have to tell them in advance because of the gentleman's agreement. He has the same agent, as Moise Kean and Luca Pellegrini, so chatting is routine, not the main topic," Maurizio told Sky Sports News in Italy.
"I agree that we can use the best midfielders, and we are making an evaluation. We need the right balance in each role. The squad has to be financially sustainable, and we want the right combination of young and veteran players."

For information, Pogba left Juventus in the summer of 2016. The French national team player chose to return to Manchester United through a deal worth approximately 89 million pounds.
Since then, Pogba has scored 39 goals and 51 assists in 233 appearances in all competitions for the Red Devils. Unfortunately, the 29-year-old's performance has started to decline this season. He and a number of other players are widely rumored to be leaving Manchester United
